From Excel to Real-Time Data Acquisition
DETMERS Getreide-Vollwertkost GmbH is a manufacturer of muesli products with a focus on organic muesli and has been headquartered in Bielefeld, Germany, since 1904. In food production, extensive documentation requirements must be met, which for many years were handled largely through manual processes.
Production Data such as machine disturbances and performance KPIs were recorded manually, transferred to Excel, and analyzed afterward. This resulted in significant effort and made it difficult to objectively evaluate production performance.
With the implementation of the MES FASTEC 4 PRO, data acquisition was gradually digitalized and expanded to all four production lines within one year. Automated data acquisition replaced paper-based processes, providing Production Data digitally, reliably, and in real time.
At the same time, Production Orders and master data are imported from SAP, while production times and quantities are reported back automatically. Shelf life and batch information is also transferred automatically to the production lines.
In addition, digital label verification further improves process reliability by ensuring that the correct label is always used.
Real-Time Data as the Basis for Informed Decision-Making
The availability of real-time Production KPIs has significantly increased transparency across production. Performance data such as target and actual values, as well as machine disturbances, is continuously available, providing a reliable basis for assessing the current situation on the shopfloor.
Standard reports also enable detailed analyses of downtime, performance deviations, and giveaway at both the Production Order and product level. By integrating checkweighers (automatic in-line weighing systems), responsible personnel can be alerted automatically whenever giveaway exceeds predefined limits.
This enables faster implementation of improvement measures and targeted identification of optimization potential. At the same time, it provides a reliable basis for investment decisions and helps ensure long-term competitiveness.
