The course was hybrid – employees were able to take part both on site and online, regardless of their location. Each session began with a “check-in question”, such as: What is the next goal you are working towards? These questions helped to start the conversation in English straight away. The exchange about goals and ongoing projects also created a pleasant atmosphere in the group and an openness that promoted collaborative learning.
The course was led by Jennifer Ewald, a working student in Marketing at FASTEC. She is studying for a Master’s degree in English and Education at the University of Paderborn and is responsible for translating a wide range of content on our website into English. Her conclusion:
Everyone is here because they are motivated to learn something new and grow. It has been a great pleasure to work with such committed colleagues and I have learned a lot myself.

A Variety Of Exercises: From Fictitious Negotiations To PowerPoint Karaoke
Over the course of the year, Jennifer covered a variety of topics in the course, including negotiations, meetings, presentations and writing emails in English. Exercises such as PowerPoint karaoke, in which participants spontaneously gave an unknown presentation in English, were particularly challenging and entertaining. During pitch training, they presented a fictitious product in an elevator pitch. The focus of the course was on speaking and listening comprehension, still, writing and grammar were also included.
At the end of the course, the participants came together to receive their certificates over coffee and cake. Feedback played a central role: the employees worked out which topics were particularly relevant and where there was still potential for improvement. This means that the next internal English course can be tailored even more closely to the needs of the employees.
For us at FASTEC, it is a key concern to support employees in their professional and personal development. For this reason, we are constantly working on the range of offers for our team.
