Especially in the demanding pharmaceutical industry, a gut feeling is not enough for capital-intensive investments.<\/p>

Queisser Pharma, based in Schleswig-Holstein on the Danish border, develops, produces and markets dietary supplements, medical products, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Queisser Pharma is best known among consumers for the Doppelherz brand, which can be found in numerous supermarkets, drugstores and pharmacies worldwide.<\/p>

Ecological responsibility and sustainability are important to the pharmaceutical company from northern Germany. New investments and renovations keep production technology up to date and thus save resources. FASTEC 4 PRO has been digitalizing Queisser Pharma’s production in Flensburg for several years in order to have a sound basis for decision-making<\/b> when making investments. FASTEC 4 PRO has been in use since 2008 and was upgraded to the latest version in 2021. This lays the foundation for new projects and a gradual expansion of the software solution. The MDA and PDA modules as well as the Additional Function Process Locking are in use.<\/p>

For Queisser Pharma, it was very important that production employees can maintain the new solution very easily and intuitively with a reasonable amount of time and that their main tasks are not neglected.<\/p>

Another challenge was that lines with tight cycle times, such as those found in the pharmaceutical industry, can experience “jolting operation” when starting up. Without state locking, the system then detects several stops that need to be justified. If state locking is implemented, the time required to justify stops can be significantly reduced.<\/b> The software then knows that the different time blocks belong to the so-called start-up, e.g. after set-up processes. The state is blocked until the line is fully started up. This saves time and provides clear, reliable data. For example, state locking makes it easier to book processes during changeover, the data is clearer and production employees can save time.<\/p>

Thanks to the intuitive usability, no training is required and the desired user-friendliness is ensured. Thanks to the tangible benefits of the software solution, employees now have the motivation to maintain downtime reasons properly.<\/p>

Queisser Pharma was already very satisfied with the FASTEC solution before the 2021 upgrade. The basic functionalities were familiar and the reports and display options were always perceived as very helpful. The upgrade went smoothly. The data from FASTEC 4 PRO is mainly used as a solid basis for decision-making by production managers and management. After all, no investment decision can be made based solely on the number of well-produced folding cartons per month.<\/p>
