Short And Precise
A Thoroughly Positive Result With FASTEC 4 PRO
With the help of the fully automated planning module of the MES FASTEC 4 PRO, Emil Frei GmbH und Co KG was able to achieve greater transparency, increased production output and binding statements on production and delivery dates. Today, FreiLacke benefits from this in production, logistics, controlling and sales. However, the project has its origins in planning.
The Objective: More Efficient Production Planning And Greater Transparency
Even at the beginning of the MES project, however, there were other specific requirements that the new MES was to meet: to minimize set-up and cleaning times, to identify production bottlenecks and display their effects, to take into account personnel availability, plant capacity and working time models and to include plant maintenance and repairs in the planning.
FreiLacke decided on FASTEC 4 PRO as the new MES to be purchased because it was able to precisely map the necessary planning rules and processes due to the high flexibility and performance of the planning module.
Set-Up Rules Determine The Planning
The planning horizon for liquid paint production at FreiLacke is more than four weeks and comprises over 300 Production orders, which in turn can include up to five Operations. Fully automatic scheduling takes place at around 90 Work centers and takes setup times, deadlines, shifts, etc. into account. Due to the color changes, the changeover or cleaning of a machine is subject to widely varying setup times, which must be taken into account. The visible result of automatic Detailed Scheduling is displayed in a Gantt chart. The fully automatically scheduled operations are shown here on a timeline, distributed across the individual Work centers.
Increased Production Output And High Deadline Reliability
Increased efficiency thanks to planning tool: Production output at FreiLacke depends on many different factors, such as batch size and the proportion of large batch production in total production. By using the planning tool and the resulting increase in efficiency, it has been possible to gradually increase production output. The greater transparency means that necessary capacity adjustments can be taken into account at an early stage during periods of strong growth.
“The use of FASTEC’s planning tool ensures a significant improvement in performance, especially in terms of delivery date reliability.” Roland Bäurer, authorized signatory and division manager at FreiLacke
